Radeon HD XT and XT review - Page 1
He should just do the measurements in imperial rather then metric just to make some people angry. You should always have little more fill rate than what your memory bandwidth can handle. One thing I will say is that these parts are decent-enough competitors to the line, particularly when AA is not enabled.
Considering the performance that these products actually yield, it seems to me that most users will actually have AA disabled when using these parts, especially as newer, more shader-intensive games come out. But why?
ATI keep using the same old 8 rop or 16 rops…The shader portion of these chips are great. This amd radeon hd 2400 pro in Oblivion for instance and shows in 3dmark pixel and vertex shader portion of the test. It still lacks the raw power of the Geforce gts fillrate and texturing abilities.

It competes with gts but not gtx. All that memory bandwidth is wasted and could have easily destroyed the ultra even if they raised the rops and texture units like Geforce gtx.
I would LOVE to see all reviews pertinent to video performance include at least the latest two generations of cards Edit: maybe even just the mainstream part of the last generation to use as a baseline. Regardless: great review. If you read the TR review of the cards, they have a amd radeon hd 2400 pro comparison with the gs and in almost every case the gts is a superior card.
That costs a lot of performance. And so does AF, if you enable it. Its AA limitations are pretty disappointing, too. This jumps out and hits me.
Nvidia needs competition. BTW, as far as the smoky back room goes, I highly recomend non-contributors to give it a try. Nothing like the big guy himself answering your questions.
To bad know where else can we see this. This was the only review I saw that pointed out video quality is far superior as well as far more compatible on AMD cards than Nvidia and thats a pretty big deal. People are so used to seeing faster is better that they amd radeon hd 2400 pro sometimes things are given up for speed. Yawns interesting design, but underwhelming performance. It almost reminds me of the first generation of FX series.
My interpretation of the Rainbow Six benchmarks is that the R gains more than the G80 compared to slightly older games. As we transition to more explicitly DX10 games, this trend may continue somewhat, though as Damage has said, not likely in time for this generation to still be all that relevant. Indeed, the one-eye-on-the-future approach seems to be written all over this generation of Radeons, from the architecture balance to the aggressive process node used. amd radeon hd 2400 pro
